Can Nisus Writer Express open Microsoft Word documents?

Yes! We have added the capability to read and write Microsoft® Word (.doc) documents.

Nisus Writer Express can read and write rtf documents and it (version 2.x) can read and write ".dot" (Microsoft® Word "template") files.

Where do my Macros go, and how do I install them?

To install the macros:

Start Nisus Writer Express. Choose "Open Macro Folder" from the "Macro" menu. This should display the macros folder. Drag the contents of the Macros folder you downloaded to the Macros folder that was opened in the previous step. Close both folders and enjoy.

If Apple supports your favorite language, Nisus Writer Express will support it. Since it is written in Cocoa, we automatically gain Unicode support, which makes language support much easier on everyone.

Yes you can. As of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Apple has added support for bidirectional text entry. This means that, like Classic Nisus Writer, Nisus Writer Express is compatible with Arabic, Hebrew, and other right to left languages.

You can import EPSF and PICT graphics directly into Nisus Writer Express using the Open dialog, or you can copy and paste them into Nisus Writer Express via the Clipboard.

Is Express able to read my old Nisus documents?

Yes, Express can read Classic Nisus Writer documents. There are some limitations, due to features in Classic Nisus Writer not being supported in Express.

However, as more Classic features are added to Express, translation of your Classic Nisus Writer documents will improve.
