Re: Non breaking Paragraph Marker

Thanks for the Macros, Martin! I appreciate them very much! So Nisus already has Tables of Authorities, for the most part. It's all Indexing, really. A dedicated Table of Authorities command would really only be a refining of the indexing. It's a two level index, and with the ability to possibly sor...

Re: Non breaking Paragraph Marker

The macro as proposed by Martin sounds good. Would it affect numbering in any fashion? By that I mean that occasionally I move entire sections around the document and usually, with the list style and automatic numbering, it renumbers. I can't see any reason why it would matter here, but I've learned...

Non breaking Paragraph Marker

So seeing a couple of other topics on list styles has triggered my mind on how to achieve something. I'd like to get a heading that looks like this: 1.3. Stock Sale. The following will trigger a stock sale.... 1.4. Other Events of Default. Default will also be triggered upon the following.... Note t...

Re: Space around lists, quotations, etc.

While I too would like a better answer, your second "bad hack" won't work: only one paragraph style can affect a paragraph. You CAN manually override the "spacing before" and "spacing after" of a paragraph with a paragraph style, so in reality your second option would be to select the first line of ...

Re: different first page header height

Martin and Adryan, thanks for the replies. I like the "caveman" style of just sticking in a few returns. It works! I think, Martin, that with three different sources of adjustments to the margins--heading, odd/even pages, etc. that somehow we get a "single source of truth" to quote Apple. I understa...

Re: different first page header height

I'm resurrecting this thread because I just ran into this issue myself. I have to file a document with the Court with a 2 inch top margin on the 1st page, but a regular margin on the rest of the document. So naturally I clicked the "Different first page header" option and enlarged the header to 2 in...

Re: Is there a way to strip "Track Changes" from the document?

So it's been a long time, but I finally managed to get an update to this issue. Turns out, that removing /revtbl allows the document to be accepted by the court system. /revtim seems to be acceptable. As to why /revtbl is such a bad one, who knows. And while I can strip out /revtbl from my documents...

Re: decimal tab problem, chosing character with which to align.

If yuo are running Mojave, in the Language & Region preferences in System Preferences, under the "Advanced" settings (which is a button on that page) on the "general" tab there's a series of "Grouping" and "decimal" seperators you can change to whatever you want.

Maybe that will help you ngazidja?

Re: creating and inserting a word index in a completed document

I am sorry this is frustrating to you. However, hopefully this is an easy fix. What has worked for me is a two column table, not two actual columns. So I build a table with rows, each row having two cells. In the first cell I have the phrase I want to index or search for. For instance, the word "Tha...

Re: Deleting a cross reference

Well, the problem was that it wasn't a "small piece" of text, it was quite large. I was cross referencing a citation. So I had bookmarked some text; the citation, which I was going to reference elsewhere. The cross reference was the "name of the bookmark." So it inserted a lengthy string. But I deci...

Deleting a cross reference

So I just found out I don't know how to delete a cross reference from text. There doesn't appear to be a "remove cross reference" command, either in menu or in the Macro language. To be clear, I'm talking about a text that cross references another piece of text. You can change the crux reference, bu...

Re: Keyboard Shortcut for Special Characters?

While you've mentioned QuickFix's Martin, can I ask about a feature from Word I miss? THat's an automatic fix for two capitals at the beginning of a word or sentence; I've accidentally typed one in this sentence and left it as a demonstration. Right now I'm not sure I see how an automatic fix could ...

Re: Theming or using Dark Mode

Yes, official support for "Dark Mode" would be nice. That being said, a way to load a theme would also be nice. For instance, right now I am writing this at 11:30 at night, and frankly, I'd like things to be a bit darker; maybe even black background and white text. Of course, I might want to change ...

Re: How Do I Copy-Paste a "Screenshot File" That Pastes The Photo?

For your information, copying and pasting images, PDFs, etc into Nisus Writer Pro does work.... sometimes. It's a problem with Apple, really. They sometimes decide that a link to the picture is what is wanted instead of the actual image. I've noticed this in particular with pages of a PDF I am tryin...

Re: GREP

You don't need to use GREP, thankfully. You can use Powerfind instead. The key concept is capturing the text you want. So, try this "Find" expression: (Capture((AnyTextCharacter))).(Capture()(AnyTextCharacter)()) What I did what insert a "Capture" block from the "match" submenu. I then put the AnyTe...
