When I started this thread by worrying about mailmerge, the graphics layer, and invisible text, my motivation was to discover if at long last I can leave Classic behind. NWC is the only app I still must run in Classic, and because of those features. I'm not into bashing here, and will happily pay a ...

Please please please tell us that MailMerge is also in.
Please please please tell us that invisible text style is also in.
And, oh, will the pro version read Classic TOC and index formats? What about the graphics layer?

Further experimentation reveals that single objects, and even small numbers taken as a single cut and paste will make the trip. My file had about 300 such equations and trying to copy them to the clip in Word crashed the program. If they will survive an rtf trip, surely this is a small bug in NWE th...

Can't read files with equations
I have some word .doc files with a lot of equations in them. NWE reads the file sans equations. The regular type is there but the equation objects are simply missing. Attempts to cut and paste from the Word document to NWE crash Word, so I can't test that way of moving the equations.

Many things a writer needs still missing
I just put in an order for a new G5. Why? Because I expect to be running Classic for a few more years. Why? Because NW Classic still has many features NWE lacks, and does not appear to be getting any time soon. - invisible text, so I can maintain files for both printing and web sites - indexing and ...

All you people with your 100K word files! I feel so...inadequate with my little 10K word essays. Which of course brings up another point--the inability of W*rd to handle such large files. Feed it a 220K word novel or a 400K textbook and it not only won't run, it can barely walk. And yes, I did leav...

Mail-merge to reference other files, eh? That's fairly creative. I wouldn't have thought of that. This does make a nice request for upcoming functionality. It's the only practical way to manage lage books. My fiction averages 200K words per novel, and my textbooks run as high as 1400 pages. I write...

My list of things I use every day in NWC but missing in action on NWE: - mail merge, or at least file include (what I use mail merge for--assemble chapters into a book) - invisible text style; allows me to keep html markup in a document and still print it WYSIWYG - macros; ability to record same - a...

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around what it is you're trying to do. What I would really like to do is be able to merge a number of chapter files into a book. This was easy using the mailmerge facility in NWC--just create a data file with the filenames, a merger file referring to it and select ...

LinkBack
The only LinkBack enabled app I have is NWE 2.5. So, to experiment I opend a couple of files and copied and pasted into a third, new file. I did not get the dialogue offering to make the paste updateable, and so far as I can see ther is no LinkBack established. If NWE can't do this with is own docum...

The fix for this bug should be in final candidate 2. Let me know if it gives you any troubles in that version. As reported directly to you (but placed here for the record) this particular bug seems fixed in RC2. This will help me immensely. Each version is also faster than the one before, though sp...

Express should be saving RTF files that Word can read properly. Please, if you are still having issues using beta 6 then email me (sneakpeek@nisus.com) the original Classic document so I can have a look. It would also be helpful to know what version of Word you are testing against. Thanks. I posted...
