Re: Just a Thanks
I too have been a user of InfoClick for some time and recently wanted to backup the database but couldn't find where it is stored. Its location may have changed over the years with upgrades to MacOS. I'm running Ventura 13.6.4 Anyone any idea of where it is? It's not mentioned in the prefs with any ...

Re: Change font & Size
Right click on "Normal" at point 1 and choose "Remove selected Formatting". Then go down to the second part "Displayed Formatting" and right click at point 2. This time choose, "Remove Formatting Except Styles". You will see that it will then show you that th...

Re: Error message using Nisus on a Synology NAS
Since it's a Synology NAS the likelihood is that it will be using "Btrfs" which is Synology's proprietary (Linux based?) file system. Whilst I believe it allows for snapshots of the drive at a particular point in time, I have no idea of the extent to which it would be compatible with MacOS...

Re: what is the real extension of old Nisus Writer 6.5 ?
From memory the old Nisus Classic files were simply text files. Classic files had two aspects: the data fork and the resource fork. Data was the information held as plain text and the resource fork contained any formatting or other information. Have you tried opening them in either TextEdit or BBEdi...

Re: Replace character style
TBH I go back to the Classic Nisus 5.1.3. I first used it when I moved from Claris Works which had mangled my final year Diss. You could run Nisus on a Ram Drive and get 3 hours out of a laptop battery. Very good until you forgot to copy back to the hard drive.... Overall, it proved a wise decision ...

Re: Replace character style
Hi Mark: Thanks for the image of your Scriv settings which made me take another look at mine. As a result I've modified them to uncheck "use project settings" and then reset the margins to match those in Nisus. Now if I do compile the Scriv project, the footers and headers are consistent t...

Re: Replace character style
These are the settings I have for my Scriv defaults. The Nisus page is A4 with 1" margins all round. I normally have a gutter of 0" with the header and footers at 0.5". I think it might be the different header/footer on first pages that's making the difference. It's trivial to do the ...

Re: Replace character style
Thaks for the reply Phillip. I thought that might be the case. At present the section breaks look like this: The search command for these in Powerfind Pro, I think is: \f If I do "find/replace" those with (say) xx$xx (anything unique) it removes the sections. Do a global set footer height ...

Re: Replace character style
Sorry to push this but there is one other thing. Is it possible to have a macro which sets all footers at (say) 0.5 inch? When importing a Scriv doc, for some reason it sets the footer (but not the header) within each section at different heights. It must be something in Scriv but I can't find it, s...

Re: Replace character style
Thanks very much Phillip. Yes the reason for the operating within the footnotes is so I can tag it on to another macro which performs some formatting of a Scriverner imported doc. I then thought it might be useful to have one that operated within a selection, which could be the whole or part of a do...

Re: Replace character style
Thank you Phillip and Adrian. I was almost there with something like Phillip's suggestion - a lash up of what Adrian suggested - when Phillip replied. Phillip's suggestion operates on the whole file, but I only need it to operate on the footnotes. It might be useful to have an alternate version whic...

Replace character style
I'm trying to do a macro to replace one character style with another. This would operate within a selected text block - essentially the footnote area - but could be applicable anywhere the text is selected. Thus: Find in selection character style ’Super’ In selection replace all character style ’Sup...

Re: Change font & Size
Thanks for all this Mark. After a couple of false starts it now works perfectly! I wish I knew more about the macro language, although if I really started using PowerFind/Pro, that would probably give me some baby steps into it. At one time I believe Take Control Books were going to do one on Nisus ...

Re: Change font & Size
Hi Mark: The reason for the additional footnotes paragraph style is because the imported text from Scriv wasn't picking up the footnote style. If I used *my* footnotes style together with the clunky workround outlined above I got the desire result. No idea why it worked but that's computers for you....
