Adryan, I understand your point about styles. They are tools to navigate the path, not the product, they aren't the only tools we can use, and typography only matters so much.
The play's the thing.

Re: Indents
The last paragraph is interesting. I see what you mean about the left indent acting as a tab stop. You've got one tab stop defined and two leading tab characters. The second tab lands the cursor at the left indent. To give you an idea of how style-fixated I am, I can't remember setting tab stops or ...

Re: Indents
Are you seeing word wrap? The only way I've been able to make a paragraph jump to the left indent is to move the tab to the right far enough to wrap the first word to the second line. At that point, all the visible text in the paragraph is left aligned with a new leading blank line. The reader won't...

Re: List Styles
Interesting. Being a slacker, I've been quietly grumbling about the space between list items. As is probably obvious to everyone else, if you choose a paragraph style before starting the list, the vertical gap is set by the paragraph style's "space after" setting. A paragraph style with a 0 pt space...

Re: infoclick update?
I uninstalled Nisus, used mdfind to nuke everything related to Nisus, and on reinstallation I didn't see the Infoclick prompt. It's possible I installed Infoclick at some point, but the more I think about it, the less likely I think that was. I'm pretty sure I never downloaded a trial. As far as I c...

Re: infoclick update?
I believe I may haver installed the Infoclick demo on my laptop at some point, but it would have been long ago. Any thing I should look for? Mdfind infoclick doesn't locate anything that looks like infoclick. Is there a plist file that could have triggered the prompt? Normally, I would not have ente...

infoclick update?
On a serious note, updating my iMac went as expected.
My Macbook Air required me to enter my local password in an "Infoclick Update" window.
I don't think I have Infoclick installed, and I keep email in a Devonthink database, anyway.
Is this anything I should be concerned about?

Thanks for the Big Sur update!
The update has fixed the sluggishness I'd seen after installing Big Sur, and it appears to have improved life in other ways. I had started wearing pants, which is not The Nisus Way, and to get past word processing sluggishness I'd taken to writing my correspondence in hand-coded PostScript with edli...

Re: Outline lists - missing the obvious
Adryan, I appreciate your insights - but....
- I do not have a compulsion to outline
- I can stop any time I want
- LIke now.
- Seriously. No big deal.
- Quitting is easy
- Go for a walk.
- Call a friend until the compulsion eases
- Quitting is easy
- Seriously. No big deal.
- LIke now.

Re: Outline lists - missing the obvious
Curious. Now I can't duplicate the behavior. I'll try again later when I've got time. My wife is saying something about supper, and from the rising vocal inflections I sense this is not the time to play with word processors, even ones as nice as Nisus.

Outline lists - missing the obvious
I'm sure this is answered, but I can't find it. When I choose "outline" in the list styles, I get the expected roman numeral one. I type a line, hit enter, and now the outline mode is turned off and I'm in my body style. Generally, I hate outlines. Anything to purge the world of their stultifying in...

Re: Delete page breaks
Good information, but there might be some rough edges. I have a document with a number of two-column sections interspersed with one column sections. A find for "any break" will find the first few and then I think it gets stuck inside a section and won't go on to the rest of the document. I have not ...

Re: Can't save a new collection to the the Style Library
Interesting - I think I'm running the latest version of Nisus Writer Pro (3.0.4). When I click the plus button in the document manager, I get three options, add custom group, add folder group, and add filter group. I don't hink anything is going wrong. I see the style library in the document manager...

Re: Why do you choose Nisus?
How rude of me - I posted and forgot to check back! Mea culpa, my apologies. Regarding the best fit, I've found Nisus to be a very flexible tool. I don't use it for coding, but just about anything else seems a good fit. I write technical documents, short stories, essays, letters, and I frequently us...
