Re: More space above first chapter page Heading
Yeah, I think some of my odd issues are due to layout processing at this point. I'm avoiding text boxes and anchored images as per questions I asked earlier this year. I had not considered putting the chapter number and title in the header. Is this really common practice? I've not seen that on any o...

Re: More space above first chapter page Heading
And that is what I did - used your suggestion to put the extra first page space in the header. It seems to be working fine. This off page layout issue seems to be an anomoly and might be related to background processing/layout? G’day, mhackney et al Hmmm, that does present a problem. It’s actually a...

Re: More space above first chapter page Heading
Thanks. Yes, there is a hard return after the "3D Printing Strategies" in the header (it is in the header). I had not considered putting the chapter number and title in the header. Is this really common practice? I've not seen that on any of the publishing tips sites I've read. Will conten...

Re: More space above first chapter page Heading
Actually, no I did not do that. I have used soft returns for valid reasons in other pats of my doc but not this header. What you are seeing is a soft return on the TITLE that should be below the header. I use a soft return there so the TOC shows the entire title but yet I get the design I want. Is t...

Re: More space above first chapter page Heading
And the issue disappeared when I came back from lunch! Is there a background process that reformats a document when you do a TOC or other update that might be taking a long time to complete?

I'll try both approaches and go with the simplest one (or the one that works best)!

Re: Delete empty page (no text field)
Hmm, now in multiple cases, simply closing Nisus and reopening the document fixes the problem.

More space above first chapter page Heading
What's a best practice for having the heading of a new chapter positioned, say 3" from the top of the page but the rest of the chapter's pages maintain a 1.25" top margin? It seems cheesy just to put a couple of line breaks in.

Re: Delete empty page (no text field)
@nostrand, I came here to seek help for exactly this problem! I get sporadic blank pages with nothing on them, show invisibles does not show anything, zap gremlins does not help, and this can happen in the middle of a 15 page (for example) chapter so it is not an odd/even chapter alignment issue (wh...

Re: "Jumping Photos"
Most of the images so far are place holders until I complete the final artwork and/or photos. Images 2, 3 and 4 are ones that jump everywhere. I'm not sure why 4 is numbered before 2 & 3 but that's my fault - I must have reorganized the section and not renumbered yet.

Re: "Jumping Photos"
Ok, document sent. It might be a little bit of a mess since I started deleting and re-adding photos. Bet see what you can. Yes, the warning but for changing position of an image to inline with text option. Ah, Now I see why my images with captions in view hidden mode look like multiple boxes. I thin...
