Another Snow Leopard Tip

September 3rd, 2009 · No Comments

This tip came from one of our engineers, Martin, who writes on this blog from time to time. In previous versions of Mac OS X a user could use “Get Info” in the Finder to control which localization(s) a particular application was launched with, eg: they could disable all but one localization to force an [...]

Snow Leopard Tips

August 28th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Mac OS X 10.6 brings a great deal of refinement, stability, and goodwill since the price is so low. However, we have discovered a couple of interesting issues that should be discussed. The native file format in both Nisus Writer Express and Pro is RTF (rich text format). This format is shared by many other [...]

Snow Leopard Compatible Releases

August 28th, 2009 · No Comments

When Apple announced on 24 August that Snow Leopard would be available on the 28th, we were as surprised as you were. Remember, Apple had said previously that Snow Leopard would be available in September. To most in the developer community, that meant late September. Boy, were we wrong. Since 10.6 has now out in [...]

August 25th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Apple has announced that Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6) will be released this coming Friday, 28 August. That’s earlier than what they had been promising, which was September. While this is good for consumers, I have a feeling that some developers are doing a bit of scrambling at the moment to get their applications [...]

No News. For Now.

June 30th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Wow … it’s been a while. This place is kind of dusty and has an odd odor, but everything still works. Anyway, no real news, but that will change shortly, hopefully in the next few days. Stay tuned, folks.

Macworld Expo 2009 – Town Hall Blues

January 9th, 2009 · 1 Comment

Between all of the parties and sleeping and eating, I actually did something of substance. I attended the Town Hall meeting on Wednesday night. The place was full, and a bit anxious. People had ideas that they were just dying to share, and share they did. A few wanted to either move it to New [...]

Macworld Expo 2009 – Apple is here, where is everyone else?

January 7th, 2009 · 2 Comments

I can’t say that I wasn’t too surprised at the lack of excitement in this years show. People that I talked to before the keynote were not expecting much. And what do you know, Apple delivered on that. The new stuff is nice, but not earth shattering. That’s got to be one of the reasons [...]

Macworld Expo 2009 – Pre Show Hostilities

January 6th, 2009 · No Comments

I arrived very early this morning only to see the rain I was so desperately hoping would not fall. Being San Francisco, I knew that was a pipe dream, but sometimes you just have to root for the impossible. I made the rounds in the afternoon. Seems that there was a bit of news about [...]

Gobble Gobble!

November 27th, 2008 · No Comments

It is Thanksgiving Day here in the USA, or as my English friend says, “You are Welcome Day.” This is the day where we get to stuff ourselves full of food, watch football, and be more lazy than usual. There is another thing we celebrate, but that gets lost in the inevitable food-induced coma. We [...]

Social Networking is Now Over

August 19th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, it was fun while it lasted, but the whole “Social Networking” craze is now officially over. It died the day that Hoffspace was launched. I already have some pretty severe back pains, but the idea of a David Hasselhoff social network is going to cause me more pain than any back spasm can give [...]

“Hey Baby, It’s The 4th of July”

July 4th, 2008 · No Comments

The title of this post comes from a song by The Blasters, later covered by X. Yes, I did listen to music in the 80s, as a matter of fact. Anyway, it is the Fourth of July here in the States, so that means fireworks, marching bands, too much food, and in this case, a [...]

Time Machine Eats Drive Space For Dinner

July 3rd, 2008 · 3 Comments

I got this lovely warning today as Time Machine was backing up my iMac: My drive isn’t that large (160 gig WD Passport) and I probably should get a larger drive. But, eventually Time Machine will eat that drive as well. Maybe it is time to look for alternative backup solutions.
